A New Standard, A New Kind of Freedom

A New Standard, A New Kind of Freedom

A key commitment issue in IoT projects is vendor lock-in, or, as we see it at ZARIOT, being locked into a decision regarding a specific connectivity, network, platform and provider choice right at the very start of the lifecycle of your device. These early decisions can make it difficult and costly to migrate to other technologies or other service providers. Characterized by rapid and continuous change, the market and technology require from its participants the much-needed flexibility to adapt.

SGP.32 introduces the flexibility required to adapt to such ever-changing market and technology conditions. As the new GSMA standard for IoT eSIM management, it provides the ability to switch connectivity providers without the need to physically replace the SIM, thus reducing vendor lock-in. Imagine designing and deploying a device while maintaining the ability to modify its connectivity configuration remotely, at scale, without touching the hardware.

Ongoing technological advancements, price fluctuations, changes in the regulatory landscape and changes in the network infrastructure…These are all familiar issues for those who manage large-scale IoT deployments. SGP.32 pulls back the control to you, the enterprise, enabling simplified multi-market rollouts. It reduces the risk of relying on a single operator’s coverage and pricing, whose offer may change over time, putting you at the mercy of a previously signed contract, and it’s exactly the future-proofing that all modern IoT offerings increasingly require.

Therefore, we’re excited to confirm that ZARIOT is now part of the Kigen IoT eSIM ecosystem, working as part of their newly launched Kigen IoT eSIM Starter Kit to bring certified, tested, production-ready SGP.32 connectivity to our customers.

Through the Kigen IoT eSIM Starter Kit, customers can explore SGP.32 using a tested, production-ready foundation, combining Kigen’s eSIM technology with ZARIOT’s connectivity expertise. A fantastic initiative supporting one of the foundational blocks in the future of IoT connectivity. Joining this initiative isn’t about supporting the SGP.32 standard, but about helping enterprises turn flexibility into practical applications.

This isn’t a “watch this space” announcement — it’s live, it’s tested, and we’re ready to help you use it.

Introducing the ZARIOT SGP.32 Ready for Market Program

Adopting the SGP.32 standard on paper is one thing, but achieving a full and effective implementation in the form of a successfully engineered and deployed device running in the field is another. Within the gap between proof of concept and successful device deployment is where most of the friction in the go-to-market lives, and it’s exactly where we want to meet you.

To bridge this void, we launched the ZARIOT SGP.32 Ready for Market Program. Instead of merely providing technical documentation, we provide direct and personal access to our own engineering team. Experts with prior experience in IoT deployments, they will be sitting alongside your team through profile activation, device behaviour, exception handling and more. They are there from proof of concept to rollout.

Technical Expertise – We don’t just understand this technology; we work with it every day. When something behaves unexpectedly during testing, and with any new standard, something usually does, we want to be the ones on the call helping you solve it.

Advice suited to your goals – We genuinely ask our own team to challenge customers with one question: if technology were no object, what would you like to achieve? We work backwards from that answer to optimize outcomes. Focusing on your solution goals and work with you to achieve the best possible results.

Security by design – Cybersecurity isn’t an add-on for us. At ZARIOT it has shaped everything we have done since we were formed. With the Cyber Resiliency Act (CRA) bringing new requirements for all devices with a digital element, effectively everything, this has never been more important. Devices and data protection are central to our SGP.32 program.

The program goal is simple: fewer surprises, best advice, faster and more confident rollout, with a partner who’s invested in your project succeeding.

Commercial support is as important as the technical support

Besides providing full technical support, our goal is to provide cost-effective pricing and extensive global coverage to support the commercial success of IoT deployments.

SGP.32 standard delivers its real value only when the provider behind it facilitates the full use of the flexible capabilities that the SGP.32 standard represents. Despite that, certain implementation approaches can quietly reintroduce the vendor lock-in that the SGP.32 standard was designed to remove. Examples include restricting the set of profiles that can be downloaded onto the eSIM, imposing restraining contract terms that discourage switching connectivity providers, or even permanent profiles that generate charges even when you are no longer using the provider.

Our approach was designed with the specific purpose of preventing vendor lock-in. ZARIOT does not impose artificial restrictions intended to discourage users from changing connectivity providers. We believe in the freedom that the SGP.32 standard was designed to enable. Therefore, we support this freedom, and we make sure you keep it.

The flexibility provided by the SGP.32 standard is an essential solution to navigate through the roaming and regulatory landscape shifts. Permanent roaming restrictions, tighter data sovereignty requirements, and evolving national rules are making global cellular IoT more complex, not less. Cooperation across the industry matters more than ever. We work within an ecosystem that includes both partners and competitors to ensure that the IoT enterprise customer gets the flexibility and innovation it deserves.

SGP.32 is built to scale, from pilot projects to global IoT deployments. Combined with our in-house management portal and industry-leading network flexibility from our sister company Cellusys, we deliver flexibility, automation and minimal administrative overhead. We believe in working with your requirements, rather than you working around us.

Technical capability, commercial flexibility, and genuine support, all brought together in one seamless SGP.32 solution with ZARIOT.

Let’s Build Something Together

“ZARIOT is fully invested in supporting SGP.32 as one of the foundations of future IoT connectivity. Enterprises deserve genuine control over their deployments, and the best way we can prove our commitment to that is by being at your side throughout testing, proof of concept, and rollout — including working alongside our telecom’s partners and competitors when that’s what serves you best. We’re ready for the projects our customers are excited about, and even the ones your nervous about. Come and challenge us with what you’re trying to build and let’s find out how close we can get.”
