Cellular IoT is a way of connecting things (e.g., sensors) to the internet via a SIM using the global mobile network. It provides a licensed and regulated alternative to low power, wide area networks (LPWAN) like non-cellular technologies (e.g. LoRaWAN), that operate in
unlicensed bands.

IoT/M2M SIMs and traditional SIMs carry out the same basic function – maintain a connection that allows devices to access the internet, transmit data, and communicate with each other.

However, their similarities end there.

Unlike smartphone SIMs, IoT/M2M SIMs like ZARIOT’s, should be equipped with additional functionality, durability, and security to meet the specific business needs of your IoT projects.
